/I don't think it's as simple as asking ourselves who our non-disabled allies might be. I think we need to work with our POLITICAL allies, be they socialists, communists or anarchists.
It's often been said that what disables us most is other people's attitudes, but those attitudes are informed and sustained by capitalism.
Some Disabled people have made disparaging remarks about disability arts and the role it may (or may not) play in challenging and changing society's attitudes. Personally, I think this is a bit cheap and divisive. The arts have always played a huge role in bringing about social change and I see no reason why this should not be true for disability arts. The revolution starts here!!
