Oska Bright Film Festival 2009

17th, 18th and 19th November 2009

By the Oska Bright Steering Committee

We are really shattered, spent the whole weekend in bed after the festival but we are very excited about how well it went.

The awards ceremony was really funny because although we planned and rehearsed it a lot, we still did what we wanted and had lots of fun on stage. Everyone was laughing at the jokes because one of the film makers who won an award looked just like Andy from our committee. We took photos of them standing together on our phones and could hardly tell them apart.

There was a really good buzzing feeling to the whole festival, we loved the films especially 'Young at Heart' which won the Best Overall Film prize and got everyone clapping along.

The film 'The End of the World According to the Ram' was very clever and had everyone laughing so much they fell off their seats.

The film 'The Story of the Beatles' was comical especially when John Lennon got shot and said, “Yoko, I'm selling my guitar for a harp”.

'The Piano' had great funny acting in it and funny sound effects of animal noises coming out of the piano, it was great when we 'saw' them sawing it in half.

The film 'Nothing Like Her' was really sad and made us think about what it would be like to have our own children.

'The Waiting Room' was a clever film which was about something serious, but made us laugh, especially when John farted at the woman in the waiting room.

We couldn't stop talking about the film 'The Viper' because it had such a funny surprising end.

We loved the film 'Feelings' because it was strange and inspiring with great voices.

We can't wait to take all these great films on the road in 2010. Check out our website at www.oskabright.co.uk to see if we're coming near you.

We hope we get enough money for our mobile cinema to finally launch it in 2011. If you would like to give a £5 donation to our Oska Bright Mobile Cinema Campaign you can donate on line at: http://www.oskabright.co.uk/great_film.htm

We need 100,000 people to give us £5 each – please pass this on to everyone you know! Thank you.
