GoThere! bursary winners attend DaDaFest International 2008

Arts Council England, South East (ACE, SE) and Dada-South offered bursaries to disabled and Deaf artists and arts professionals to attend NWDAFs DaDaFest International 2008 in Liverpool from 4th to 7th September 2008.

Now in its eighth year, the festival is run by North West Disability Arts Forum

(NWDAF).DadaFest International 2008 featured over 270 artists in an extravangaza of visual arts, performing arts and film. Amongst these were 12 new commissions and 20 DadaFirsts.

The bursaries provided artists with the means to take part in an action research visit to DaDaFest International 2008, with a view to informing the development of South East showcasing of the work of disabled and Deaf artists.

Bursary winners were able to sample the rich and diverse programme of events at DaDaFest International 2008 and were invited to report back in a range of ways, either through daily blogging, review, report, film, photographs or drawings.

DaDaFest 2008 DaDaAwards

Nominations by Disabled and Deaf artists and community groups are now open for this year’s DaDaAwards

DaDaFest International 08 climaxes with the UK’s only annual Award ceremony celebrating the achievements of disabled and deaf artists. This year it is held for the first time at BT Convention Centre in Liverpool’s new arena on 3rd December 08 as part of International Disabled Peoples Day.

Eight awards are up for grabs and the winner will receive around £500 to develop their art work. See nomination form for more details as each award carries a different offer.

Nominations are open to any disabled or deaf artists or group and can be self nominated or made on behalf of someone else. Applications can be downloaded from the website or by contacting the office to request a form.

The deadline to receive completed application forms is Tuesday 28 October 2008.

A specialist panel of Disabled & Deaf artists and award sponsors will assess the application forms and create a shortlist in each category. Staff and Board members of NWDAF will not be part of the shortlisting panel.

This will be announced for on-line or postal voting from Monday 3 November 2008
